PLYMOUTH – Hanover had a little revenge on their minds. After losing four straight to their Patriot League Fisher Division foe, the Hawks blew the doors off Plymouth South 42-7.Last season Hanover (4-0) went down 21-0 but marched back to tie things up with 12 seconds left to go on a Ben Scalzi touchdown. But a failed two-point conversion gave the Panthers the win.In this one, Scalzi didn’t leave anything to chance as the senior captain threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wideout John McDonald pulled down 11 passes for 151 yards, two touchdowns, and added a third score on the ground early in the fourth quarter.“This is huge because it is our first league game and we are not looking ahead but we knew this was a big one to start league play,” said McDonald. “I think it is just confidence because I know if I get open on my route (Scalzi) is going to put it where it’s supposed to be. I have a lot of trust in him.”Scalzi found Sebastian Brown on an 11-play opening series to ge...Eason brothers put on a show, Methuen hammers Andover

METHUEN — There are wins and then there are statement wins. On Friday night at Nicholson Stadium, Methuen jumped on Andover early and never took its foot off the gas.Led by three touchdown passes from Drew Eason and a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown from brother Shane Eason, the Rangers blitzed the Golden Warriors for 30 first-quarter points en route to a 51-18 win.“We played well in all three phases,” Methuen coach Tom Ryan said.Mother Nature seemingly dealt both high powered offenses a curveball as a steady rain had the potential to make handling the ball difficult. In fact, it was the Golden Warriors who struggled to adapt to the elements.A fumble and an 11-yard punt on its first series set the tone for Andover’s first quarter. On its first snap, Methuen ran a flea flicker that turned into an Eason to Kian Greeley 32-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead after the first of Omar Aboutoui’s seven extra points.Aboutoui’s strong leg resulted in constant touchbacks that gave Andover ...Chicago Cubs must shake off struggles from the last 3 weeks and refocus: ‘It’s just a matter of executing’

All the Chicago Cubs can do is move on and refocus. That was their approach after each of the three losses in Atlanta this week, and it’s the mentality they are taking into their postseason-determining weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs will need help to secure a playoff spot. Poor play over the last three weeks in which they went 6-13 in that span entering Friday’s series opener at American Family Field has the Cubs heading toward their season ending Sunday,One of the worst things the Cubs could do in Milwaukee is try too hard and press. There is a balance between playing with urgency and trying to make something happen.“That’s been a nice dialogue within the locker room itself is when things become more magnified that no one in the locker room expects anything different from each other than whatever it is that you’ve brought all year and whatever your skill set is,” second baseman Nico Hoerner said Friday. “Me goi...Undefeated Milton keeps rolling, runs past Weymouth, 31-7

MILTON — It was hard to find much fault in Milton’s 31-7 win over Weymouth in Friday night’s Bay State Conference Herget Division opener for both squads. That’s nothing new for Milton. The Wildcats are now 4-0 with four lopsided wins, and look every bit the D3 state title contender a year after losing to Wakefield at Gillette Stadium. But the postgame celebration was muted, even though Weymouth entered 3-0. Although it may not look like it, there are corrections for Milton to make.“We’ve just got to keep getting better,” Milton coach Steve Dembowski said. “Week 4 of the season is nothing. Where you are right now in any poll, any stat, is really meaningless. Hopefully, we have enough maturity in the group to focus on things we can correct and keep grinding away. The league is going to be tough this year.”Dembowski had contributions up and down the roster.Quarterback Patrick Miller completed 12 of 22 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Hamad Khalifa al-Kubaisi.Al-Kubaisi “succumbed to the injuries he had suffered as a result of the Houthi act of aggression last Monday, while performing his sacred patriotic duties defending the southern borders of Saudi Arabia,” the statement said. Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have not claimed the attack. The attack on Monday, which also wounded a number of soldiers, threatened recent progress in winding down Saudi Arabia’s eight-year war against the Houthis. The Saudi-led military coalition said it had “the right to respond at the appropriate time and place.” However, there has been no such response yet amid efforts to reac...Blue Jays move one step closer to playoff berth with big win over Rays
